Dr. Menter is a board-certified dermatologist and medical provider at Baylor University Medical Center, and the founder and past president of the International Psoriasis Council. He has dedicated much of his career to the study and treatment of psoriasis and to promoting its understanding as a serious autoimmune condition. Raised in South Africa, Dr. Menter is a graduate of the University of Witwatersrand, a member of the school’s competitive rugby team, and completed a residency through Pretoria General Hospital in 1971. He accepted a fellowship at St. John’s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin in London in 1973 and immigrated to the United States in 1977 to continue his study with a second fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. In 2021, Dr. Menter was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree on behalf of Baylor University.

Since settling in the United States, Dr. Menter has been a clinical professor and provider at the Baylor University Medical Center and the University of Texas Southwestern, in addition to maintaining a private practice with Texas Dermatology Associates P.A. He continues to contribute to meetings of the International Psoriasis Council and is the former chair of the Division of Dermatology and Director of Dermatology Residency at Baylor University Medical Center. Dr. Menter has written or co-authored more than 250 scientific journal articles, dozens of book chapters, and four books of original research, including explorations of genetic factors in the development of psoriatic disease as well as the efficacy of pharmacologic, biologic, and complementary treatments for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Dr. Menter is a former member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology and was presented with the organization’s 2105 Clark W. Finnerud Award in recognition of his contributions as a clinical educator. He is also the recipient of the Dermatology Times’ 2020 Giants of Dermatology Award and an honorary member of the Latin American Society for Psoriasis. Dr. Menter remains active in the American Dermatological Association, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Society for Investigative Dermatology, and strives to maintain Baylor Scott & White Health as one of the most trustworthy names in healthcare and a beacon of high-quality clinical education and research for many years to come.
