Susan E. Levitzky, MD, FAAP, Medical Director at the Jewish Child Care Association Foster Care Agency, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pediatrics.
For nearly 40 years, Dr. Levitzky has excelled as the medical director of the Jewish Child Care Association Foster Care Agency. Notably, she has found additional success as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the New York University School of Medicine. She provides comprehensive pediatric care to patients within her private practice as well as at NYU Langone Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center. She specializes in foster care and advocates for the physical, mental, educational and developmental needs of each of her patients. Above all, she is proud to personally connect with each child she assists, as opposed to merely checking blood pressure and administering shots.
As a child, Dr. Levitzky was tormented by other children in her community for her Jewish faith and upbringing. Though she became stronger because of the trauma she experienced, she vowed to provide assistance to children facing similar circumstances. Growing up, her father was a psychiatrist who pushed her to pursue a career in the medical field because of her natural ability to heal others. Combined with her lifelong passion for helping children, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in medical sciences and English from the University of Wisconsin in 1963. She completed her education in 1967, at which time she earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
Dr. Levitzky began her career as the chief resident in pediatrics at the Beth Israel Medical Center in 1970. She has been board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics since 1972 and has attained the prestigious title of Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Within the aforementioned organization, she has served as co-chairman of the Council on Child Abuse and Neglect. In addition, she lends her expertise as the treasurer of the New York Pediatric Society.
Dr. Levitzky is proud to have dedicated her life to providing psychological, educational and nutritional assistance to children and teenagers. For her contributions, she has been recognized as a Top Doctor in the New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly from 1999 to 2008, 2010 to 2013, 2015 and 2019. She is proud to have been the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2002 and the Appreciation Award for More Than 18 Years of Support from the UJA-Federation of New York. Additionally, she was selected by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals to be featured in the premier publication of The Leading Physicians of the World in 2014. Looking toward the future, she endeavors to remain committed and devoted to providing a helping hand to underprivileged children.
