Tariq Lamki, Neurosurgeon at Lamki Neurosciences Institute, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in neurosurgery.

Growing up, Dr. Lamki was greatly inspired by his parents, who were both physicians. He knew at just five years old that he saw the same path for himself. Through his studies, his interest in how the brain works grew, and he pursued the specialization of neurosurgery. He had first earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and psychology from Houston Baptist University prior to receiving a Doctor of Medicine at the Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine in 2003. In addition, he completed a clinical fellowship in skull base neurosurgery and stereotactic radiosurgery and a research fellowship in skull base neurosurgery at the Ohio State University.

Dr. Lamki currently practices at the Lamki Neurosciences Institute. To date, he has 22 publications on research, which include publications on a technique removing benign brain tumors with intratumoral aspiration in 2014 and publications on early testing of novel chemotherapy release systems in the brain using electrical charges. Furthermore, Dr. Lamki has served as the editor-in-chief of the online scientific journal, Link2.Life. In his civic obligation, Dr. Lamki participates in a charity program his wife founded called NOOR AL-RAHMAN. The charity is for anyone who needs help but primarily helps displaced women and the poor and underprivileged.

Amongst his achievement, Dr. Lamki performed more than 500 neurosurgical procedures in two-level two trauma hospitals in New York during a three-and-a-half-year period. Some of these procedures were very complex, such as brain tumors, which is his main area of focus. Dr. Lamki finds a lot of gratitude and joy in seeing brain tumor patients being able to walk and talk the next day after the procedure is completed. He adds that being able to cure cancer is an amazing feeling.

After multiple publications, Dr. Lamki showed and encouraged the use of radiosurgery for treatment of both benign and malignant treatment, which is as effective as the whole brain radiation without the side effects. Dr. Lamki is particularly proud of this because it takes years to convince the medical public.
