Caroline Chung, MD, Associate Professor and Director of Imaging Technology and Innovation at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in radiation oncology.
Dr. Chung is a professor, clinician and researcher celebrating more than a decade of contributions to cancer care and treatment. A talented artist and musician, she was bestowed with a degree in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music prior to pursuing a career in medicine, and began her training in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of British Columbia. She earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of British Columbia in 2003 and was elected as a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in 2008. Dr. Chung holds an additional Master of Science from the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto.
In 2011, Dr. Chung became a radiation oncologist and clinician-investigator at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Cancer Center and an assistant professor in the department of radiation oncology at the University of Toronto. She spent five years in Toronto before relocating to Houston in 2016 to accept her current role as an associate professor, radiation oncologist and the director of imaging technology and innovation at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Since 2016, Dr. Chung has also found success as a research associate at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, where she worked to determine and mitigate the effects of radiation toxicity, in addition to her primary research interests, which center on the role of advanced imaging in guiding combination radiotherapies.
Dr. Chung has served as the co-director of Women in Cancer Canada (WinC) since 2012, and has held leadership roles in professional and research organizations, including the 2013 World Diabetes Tour, the Gamma Knife Society Standardization Working Group, the Canada Association for Radiation Oncology’s Manpower Committee and several subcommittees of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. In recognition of her dedication to advancing cancer treatment, she is a grantee of the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada and the Canadian Association of Radiation Oncologists, and has been the winner of the Alliance Scholar Award each year since 2014. A fellow of the Society for Neuro-Oncology and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, Dr. Chung has been profiled in several previous editions of Marquis Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in American Women.
