Delbert H. Meyer, MD, a Pulmonary Internist at eDocTelemed, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of pulmonary medicine.
With unparalleled expertise in pulmonary medicine, Dr. Meyer lends more than five decades of experience in the field to his current role with eDocTelemed, an internet health platform that allows patients to schedule virtual appointments with their doctors. Previously, he established Pulmonary Medicine Associates, a private practice clinic that expanded to become the largest pulmonology group in the United States. Well regarded for his indelible impact on health care at large, Dr. Meyer served as a senior staff member at the Mercy San Juan Medical Center and as a volunteer clinician at the University of California Davis School of Medicine prior to his retirement in 2015.
Though his vocational path has been filled with many standout moments, Dr. Meyer was especially proud to serve as a captain in the United States Air Force for two years, during which time he distinguished himself as the chief of the pulmonary clinic at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California, where he also served as the chief of the allergy clinic. Likewise, he is gratified to have undertaken fellowships at the National Institutes of Health and the American Thoracic Society in 1969 and 1970, respectively. Driven to become a physician due to the influence of his family, which was mostly composed of farmers, Dr. Meyer sought a formal education at Kansas University Medical School, from which he earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1962. Following this accomplishment, he undertook an internship at the Wayne County General Hospital in Michigan. Later serving as a resident, he maintained involvement in the same capacity at Ann Arbor VA Hospital, and was elected to a pulmonary fellowship at the University of California Davis. Eminently qualified in the field, Dr. Meyer was licensed to practice medicine in the states of Kansas, Michigan and California, and by the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. To remain aware of developments in the field, he has also been a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pulmonary Medicine.
