Following this accomplishment, he received a Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University in 1977 where he was voted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. He is board-certified in internal medicine. Likewise, he has been certified in cardiovascular disease treatment and was licensed to practice medicine in the states of Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. To remain aware of developing trends, he is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology as well as being a member of the American Heart Association, and the American Medical Association.
