Michele L. Durr, MD, FAAFP, Family Physician and Chief of Medical Staff at Webster County Community Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in family medicine.

While coming of age on a farm during her youth, Dr. Durr drew a wealth of inspiration from the example of her local family physician, Dr. Kimball, who exhibited boundless compassion and understanding for his patients. Driven to emulate his bedside manner, she entered the medical field and, after receiving a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2002, she completed a residency at the Wesley Family Practice in Wichita, Kansas, where she later became the chief resident. Serving at the Webster County Community Hospital between 2006 and 2013, Dr. Durr also served Harlan County Health System from 2013 until 2017, after which she returned to the Webster County Community Hospital in 2017. Since that time, she has excelled as a family physician and the chief of the medical staff. Concurrently, she has distinguished herself as a medical director for Red Cloud and Guide Rock Ambulance Services, as well as the local Heritage Nursing Home.

Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Durr was elected as a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2020. She attributes her standout success to the encouragement of her parents, who taught her the values which built the foundation upon which she now stands. Though her career has been suffused with highlights, she is especially proud of the relationships she has fostered with her patients, who have made her feel included in the local community. During her spare time, Dr. Durr is a member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association, the Bass Anglers Sportsmen Society, the United States Bowling Congress, Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association. She also lends her time and expertise to various hospital improvement committees and charitable fundraisers. Looking toward the future, Dr. Durr would like to expand her sphere of influence at Webster County Community Hospital and continue serving her patients.
