Growing up in Jordan, Dr. Tashtoush noticed a shortage of qualified doctors, leading him to pursue medicine in order to help his community at large. He went on to matriculate at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, where he attained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2006 and a Master’s degree in internal medicine in 2012. Gaining initial experience, Dr. Tashtoush was an intern at Princess Basmah Hospital until 2007 and as a resident and internal medicine specialist at King Abdullah University Hospital until 2013. From there, he relocated to the United States and was an infectious disease fellow, internal medicine resident and critical care fellow at the Detroit Medical Center until obtaining a Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University in 2018. Notably, Dr. Tashtoush is licensed in California, Michigan, Arizona and Texas, as well as certified by the American Boards of Critical Care Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine and the Jordanian Medical Board of Internal Medicine.
Today, Dr. Tashtoush excels with Sound Physicians in numerous roles including program medical director at Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona since 2020. In addition, with Sound Physcians, he is critical care attending physician for the Regional Medical Center of San Jose, California, Memorial Hermann Medical Center in Houston, Texas and Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital and Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona since 2018. Dr. Tashtoush has also found success as the critical care department chairman at Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital since 2020 and the president of Jordan Summit Critical Care since 2021. Attributing his success to the support of his wife, he also notes his parents always stressed their belief in science and medicine, as well as their son. To remain abreast of his industry, Dr. Tashtoush holds membership with the Society of Critical Care, American College of Physicians, Jordan Medical Association, Infectious Disease Society of America and CHEST American College of Chest Physicians. Looking ahead, he envisions himself devoting more time to leadership and the development of his experiences.
