Dr. Milly M. Mui, Optometrist at MUI Eye Care Optometry, PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in optometry.
From watching her mother suffer from poor vision throughout her life, Dr. Mui desired to make a real difference in the lives of others in need of optometrists. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian studies and computer science from New York University in 1995, she went on to attain a Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 2009. Today, Dr. Mui excels in practicing full-scope optometry in primary eye care, including contact lenses, low vision, specialty contact lenses and ocular disease with MUI Eye Care Optometry, PLLC in New York City, a role she commenced in 2013. She has also been a volunteer to the Medical Reserve Corps of the City of New York and the director-at-large of the Optometric Society of the City of New York since 2018, whom granted her a Service Award in 2020.
Prior to her current positions, Dr. Mui served as an optometrist to multiple clinics between 2009 and 2015, including the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, Sharpsite Opthamology, D’Ambrosio Eye Care Inc., HMY Vision and Eyesmate Optical. While in medical school, she gained internship experience at the South Boston Community Health Center, New England Medical Center, VA Medical Center of Jamaica Plains, New England Eye Institute, Perkins School for the Blind, OMNI Eye Services and Veterans Health Administration of the Hudson Valley. From 1994 to 2004, she was a certified ophthalmic assistant at Raymond Fong, MD. In her illustrious career, Dr. Mui is most proud of her resilience in attaining her doctorate despite being paralyzed from the waist down. She attributes her success to her competitive and perfectionist nature and hopes to expand her practice in the coming years. Presently, she maintains membership with the American Optometric Association and the New York State Optometric Association.
