Peter J. Thaler, MD, FACS, FAAOS, Retired Orthopedic Surgeon and Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Southern California School of Medicine, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in orthopedic surgery.

A retired orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Thaler is supported by five decades of eminent experience in private practice and education. Since 1970, he has worked out of his eponymous practice, Peter J. Thaler, MD Inc., and as part of the teaching staff of the Los Angeles Orthopedic Hospital. In addition, he has excelled as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Southern California School of Medicine since 1978. In a career suffused with highlights, Dr. Thaler cites his role as the founding surgeon and teacher of the Children’s Fracture Clinic as the pinnacle of his career, along with accepting the Founders Award from the California Orthopedic Association. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he also maintains his affiliation with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Western Orthopedic Association and the California Orthopedic Association.

Dr. Thaler received a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University in 1956 and a Doctor of Medicine from the New York Medical College in 1960. Continuing his medical edification, he completed an internship at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and general surgery training at the Bronx Municipal Center in New York before joining the U.S. Army Medical Corps in 1962. As a battalion surgeon and standard medical doctor, Dr. Thaler oversaw the treatment of bumps, bruises, vaccinations, as well as clearances for duty. Likewise, he rotated throughout numerous Army medical hospitals. Following his exit from the military in 1965, he settled in Los Angeles, where he completed general surgery training at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, a residency in orthopedic training at Wadsworth Veterans Affairs Hospital and a residency in orthopedics at the Los Angeles Orthopedic Hospital.
