Dr. Lilian C. Azih, MD, Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Plastic Surgeon at Nuvueu Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetics Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in cosmetic surgery.
Influenced by her mother, who excelled as a nurse and educator, Dr. Azih grew up with anatomy books all around her home. Before she could properly read, she would hide under the table and flip through the book’s pages, which led to her becoming completely mesmerized with the human anatomy. Desiring to pursue a career as a surgeon, Dr. Azih earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 2003 and a Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2008. As a medical student, the versatility of plastic surgery was appealing to her because you could operate on all body parts, age groups and genders. Along with its combination of science and art, Dr. Azih loved its creativity and innovation, as it remains a cutting-edge and technologically innovative field.
Continuing her medical requirements, Dr. Azih was a resident of general surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2008 to 2013. She went on to complete a postdoctoral research fellowship in microsurgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2014 and a fellowship in hand, plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Greater New York Hospital in 2015. Notably, since 2019, Dr. Azih has served as the founder, chief executive officer and plastic surgeon of Nuvueu Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetics Center in Fairfield, Connecticut. Specializing in plastic surgery and aesthetics, she is also skilled in body sculpting, body tightening, liposculpting and more. Since 2015, she has also been a plastic and reconstructive surgery fellow at the Greater Los Angeles Hospital.
Finding great success in her career, Dr. Azih was named to Best of Fairfield County in the Connecticut Post and Go Newspaper in 2020 and Best in Category of Research Presentation at Cornell University from the American Burn Association in 2019. Earlier, she was granted the Best Basic Science Research Presentation Award from the University of Alabama in 2012, as well as the William Albert Maddocks Award and Best Oncology Abstract Award from the American College of Surgeons in 2011. Dr. Azih attributes her success to her strong work ethic and good faith in God. She also credits her mother for being a huge source of inspiration and encouragement.
Presently, Dr. Azih maintains affiliation with the Society of Black Academic Surgeons and Plastic Surgery Research Council. Along with her experienced practice, she has published numerous papers and articles in the field and presented at a plastic surgery meeting. In 2018, she authored, “Disarticulation and Total Thigh Flap as a One Stage Procedure for the Treatment of Complex Pressure Ulcers in Spinal Cord Injury Patients.” In five years’ time, Dr. Azih aims to continue growing her practice, expanding her business and serving the residents of the greater Connecticut area with state of the art plastic surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, traveling, cooking, gardening, theater and outdoor sports.
