A native of Cameroon, Dr. Okong garnered inspiration for her future in the medical field while attending primary school. She observed the insufficient medical, transportation and monetary resources available in her community and was determined to implement change. After concluding her undergraduate edification and pre-medical instruction, Dr. Okong obtained a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Yaoundé I in 2010.
Dr. Okong later relocated to the United States and completed a residency at the Morehouse School of Medicine. Her area of expertise as a physician in family medicine is primary care, preventive diseases and chronic diseases. She currently excels as a physician of family medicine for Conway Regional Health System. Dr. Okong’s present responsibilities included treating everyone in the family, from adults and children to pregnant women.
A charitable individual, Dr. Okong’s civic responsibilities include volunteering at multiple free clinics and contributing to a nonprofit organization that supports women in Cameroon. Likewise, she helps the underserved populations get access to healthcare, a feat of which she is particularly proud. For her accomplishments in the field, Dr. Okong has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including the College of Public Health Advisory Scholarship Award, the Morehouse School of Medicine Resident of the Year Award, a Presidential Award for Female Students in Science and an Outstanding Resident Teacher Award, among others.
