Ronald L. Peveto, M.D., M.P.H., Staff Physician at the United States Air Force Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medicine.

Dr. Peveto is a board-certified family, occupational and aerospace medicine provider caring for cadets and staff at the United States Air Force Academy since 2017. Through a series of what he describes as “lucky assignments,” he is based in Colorado and has been a general provider for cadets, as well as for the official United States Air Force Academy Falcon’s football team physician. A graduate of the University of Texas at Houston, Dr. Peveto achieved a Master of Public Health and earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1983. After completing his residency, he worked in private practice in small-town Texas, primarily caring for elderly patients and specializing in obstetrics. When his business partner left their practice, he realized that he would be unable to maintain the level of patient care they had established and decided to close.

Since childhood, Dr. Peveto had loved airplanes and aviation and he decided to change course, enlisting in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon in 1990. He quickly gained recognition for his medical excellence and dedicated service, graduating with distinction from flight surgeon training and honored as Command Flight Surgeon of the Year in 1992. Dr. Peveto was made a Senior Flight Surgeon in 1997 and has worked with the United States Air Force Academy since 1998 while continuing active duty service. Notably, he is decorated with an Aerial Achievement Medal and a Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters for his service to the United States Armed Forces. Likewise, he is the recipient of physician recognition awards from the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Peveto is past president of the American Heart Association and remains affiliated with the American Medical Association, Aerospace Medical Association and American Academy of Family Practice. He attributes his success to his calling to medicine and commitment to service, as he is proud to be able to care for a patient population that he lives and works with each day.
