Kip Lyche, MD, Physician at Island View Gastroenterology Associates, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in gastroenterology.
Since he was a child, Dr. Lyche had always cared for people and wished to help them on a greater scale. For this reason, he chose to pursue a career in the medical field and earned a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, in biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1982. Four years later, he achieved a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Diego in 1986. He went on to complete an internship and residency by 1989 at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, in which he was named Outstanding Intern for the 1986-1987 year. Notably, Dr. Lyche completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of California, San Diego in 1991.
Having accrued nearly 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Lyche specializes in hepatology and advanced endoscopy. Likewise, his area of clinical research includes nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and liver fibrosis. For the past 24 years, he has excelled as a physician at Island View Gastroenterology Associates in Ventura and Oxnard, California. With a love for teaching, Dr. Lyche has also offered his expertise as an assistant professor at Western University for Health Sciences and as an associate professor at the University of California, San Diego. His advice to medical students is to take full advantage of their education and to choose a discipline based on how they can best help people, not by salary.
Presently, Dr. Lyche maintains affiliation with the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastroenterological Association. Attributing his vast success to hard work, he also contributes to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. What Dr. Lyche most enjoys about his work is getting to interact with patients, which has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of his appointments are now through telehealth remote connection, but he misses the face-to-face interaction. In the coming years, he hopes to continue practicing, conducting research and teaching internal medicine residents. While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Lyche calls getting married and having children to be his greatest accomplishment.
