Clay Adams Cauthen, MD, MA, Physician at the University of Texas Dell Medical School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctor for dedication, achievements, and leadership in cardiology.
Growing up. Dr. Cauthen decided that he wanted to pursue a career in medicine and education. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, he received a Bachelor of Arts in biology and went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine with a specialization in cellular biology from San Francisco University. Moreover, he obtained certifications in cardiovascular disease and advanced heart failure transplant cardiology through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Since 2013, Dr. Cauthen has flourished as an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist at the University of Texas Dell Medical School. Additionally, he contributes as the program director of the cardiovascular medicine fellowship, in which he also lectures medical students. In the past, he excelled at the CICU at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin. Earlier in his career, Dr. Cauthen has gained valuable expertise with the University of Texas as the assistant director and program director in the department of medicine.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Cauthen holds membership with the Travis County Medical Society, the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Society of America. For his many accomplishments in the field, he was presented with a Resident and Fellow Excellence in Teaching Award, as well as a fellowship from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. In the coming years, Dr. Cauthen intends to build a world-class medical facility in central Texas.
