Growing up, Dr. Kelley helped her mother care for her younger brother, who was born with cerebral palsy. She was always disappointed with the quality of care provided by his doctors, which is what led to her decision to pursue a career in medicine. She attended Wayne State University after graduating from high school, earning a Master’s degree in biology by 1970. Later, in 1978, she acquired a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland. Dr. Kelley went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine before furthering her education with a Master of Healthcare Administration from George Washington University.
Licensed to practice in the state of Texas, Dr. Kelley excelled as a medical director and doctor in her private practice from 2003 until 2018. In 2020, she established herself as an author by writing her book, “COVID-19 Living and Learning in a Bubble.” She has previously worked with the Houston School for the Deaf and served as chairman for the Parent Teacher Association. Reflecting on her accomplishments, Dr. Kelley credits her hardworking nature, resiliency and drive to never give up for her success thus far in her career. A member of the American Medical Association, she hopes to continue working and making a difference in the world in the coming years. In her spare time, Dr. Kelley enjoys spending time with her four children and three grandchildren.
