Imrana Ahmed, DO, Medical Director at HRHCare Marilyn Shellabarger Health Center at Shirley, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in family medicine.
Since her formative years, Dr. Ahmed’s goal has been to make a difference in people’s lives through the lens of health care. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in 2005 from Brooklyn College, part of the City University of New York, she went on to obtain a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010. Continuing her medical requirements, Dr. Ahmed completed an internship and residency in family medicine at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in New York. A native of Bangladesh, she is now licensed to practice medicine in New York. She currently maintains professional affiliation with the American College of Family Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians and American Osteopathic Association.
Since 2017, Dr. Ahmed has served as the medical director of HRHCare Marilyn Shellabarger Health Center at Shirley, a family practice that provides coordinated medical, dental and behavioral health care services to patients. In her role, she supervises, sees patients, works with providers, manages schedules and conducts day-to-day clinical decision-making. Prior to joining the HRHCare team, Dr. Ahmed served patients at Cure Urgent Care and Bellport Primary Care on Long Island. Looking back on her grand career, she attributes her success to hard work, luck and her passion for helping others. Dr. Ahmed cites her career highlight has been having her three children while working full time as a medical director. She continues to work and live by her mottos, “I think therefore I am,” “Advocate for yourself and your patients” and “An eye for an eye, will only leave the world blind.”
