Inspired to follow the example of her mother, who continued to work as a dermatologist until the age of 96, Dr. Takechi knew from a young age she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. Now with more than 30 years of professional experience to her credit, she is a 1987 graduate of Hyogo College of Medicine and went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry from the institution in 1994. Dr. Takechi commenced her career as a physician in the second surgery department of Hyogo College of Medicine Hospital from 1987 to 1990 and further flourished with the Tsuchibashi Shinryosho Clinic as an assistant director in 1995 and director in 2000. Pivoting toward educating, she excelled as a clinical professor at the Kochi University College of Medicine from 2008 to 2014. Currently, Dr. Takechi has notably served the Tsuchibashi Medical Laboratory as director of the main clinical research branch since 2014 and Kochi Harmony Hospital as the director of the general medical department since 2020. She is also active as a researcher and clinician with the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Takechi is renowned for discovering the treatment of pollinosis with COX-2 inhibitor and treatment of atopic dermatitis with itraconazole. From her research, she is most proud of finding the mechanism of the relationship between allergy, inflammation, and cancer by the gene. She is currently conducting promising Covid-19 research. In 2007, she was the distinguished recipient of the International Health Professional of the Year Award from the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England. To remain abreast in her field, Dr. Takechi maintains affiliation with the American Academy of Dermatology, the Japan Surgical Society, the Japan Dermatological Association, and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. As a testament to her legacy, Dr. Takechi is also listed in various editions of Who’s Who in Asia, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World. She works and lives by her motto, “All lives are so important.”
