Growing up in Nigeria, the young Dr. Newlin was inspired by the work and medical missions of the medical professionals she had the privilege to grow up around. With the support of her family, she pursued pre-med studies at the University of Ibadan and University College Hospital in Nigeria. Upon her arrival in the U.S., Dr. Newlin completed a residency at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn in 2010. She has since become certified as a medical examiner by Federal Motor Carrier Safety, as well as certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine and American Board of Medical Specialties. Now working for 10 years, Dr. Newlin views herself as an instrument to empower patients to make better health choices and enjoy a better quality of life.
Notably, since 2016, Dr. Newlin has served as a family physician with the Cone Health Medical Group in North Carolina, where she has been instrumental in commencing transition care services. Dabbling in various sectors in relation to family medicine, Dr. Newlin specializes in chronic care management, transitional care and care management, integrated care with psychotherapy and physical and wellness exams. She also conducts procedures such as minor incision and drainage and minor injections. Utilizing preventative medicine and integrated care, she was a family physician for Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine from 2012 to 2016 and an attending family physician for the Benhaven Medical Center from 2010 to 2012. Presently, Dr. Newlin maintains member affiliation with the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians and North Carolina Medical Society. Finding great success, the American Medical Association provided her with the Physician Recognition Award in 2014. Looking ahead in her career, Dr. Newlin hopes to begin teaching and get more involved in medical quality changing.
