With the desire to pursue medicine since the age of 13, Dr. Pegg enrolled at the University of Queensland in Australia when it came time to further his education. In 1956, he graduated with a Bachelor of Surgery/Medicine. Later, in 2006, he earned an MD from his alma mater. Prior to establishing himself as a well-respected doctor, Dr. Pegg was registered in general surgery and pediatric surgery by the Medical Board of Australia.

Dr. Pegg began his career as the surgical registrar at the Princess Alexandria Hospital in Brisbane in 1962. By 1967, he had gained enough experience to take on the title of surgical supervisor at Royal Brisbane Hospital, where he remained until 1977. That year, he was promoted to become the director of surgery. In 1994, Dr. Pegg left the hospital to venture into medical education, accepting a position as an associate professor of burn surgery at the University of Queensland. In 1996, he was promoted to a professor and later earned the title of professor emeritus in 2006. Outside of his medical endeavors, Dr. Pegg has contributed numerous chapters to books and articles to professional journals.

In recognition of his success, Dr. Pegg has earned numerous awards. In 1964, he accepted the Australian RICS Fellowship and went on to earn the Decorated Order of Australia. Further, he was presented with the G. Whitaker International Prize in Sicily in 2003. More recently, in 2018, the University of Queensland awarded Dr. Pegg with the Vice-Chancellor Alumni Award of Excellence. An honorary life member of the International Society for Burn Injuries, he maintains affiliation with the Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators, the Australian Medical Association, and the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association, for which he served as president from 1980 until 1982. As a further testament to his professional success, Dr. Pegg is featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World.
