Kathryn Elizabeth McGoldrick, MD, FCAI (Hon), Professor of Anesthesiology Emeritus at New York Medical College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in anesthesiology.

Coming from a family of physicians, Dr. McGoldrick was highly motivated to join the medical field since her childhood. Having now accrued more than 40 years of inimitable professional experience in anesthesiology, education and writing, she has been recognized as professor of anesthesiology emeritus by the New York Medical College since 2016. For the past four years, Dr. McGoldrick has served as a field representative for the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education of the Clinical Learning Environment Review, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the accreditation of graduate medical training programs in the United States. Lauded throughout her career, Dr. McGoldrick has been named to Best Doctors in American and was the recipient of a Distinguished Service Award from the Museum of Anesthesiology Wood Library in 2017. She has also received various accolades from her places of work, the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, American Medical Association and more.

In her educational career, Dr. McGoldrick served the New York Medical College as a full professor and chairman of the department of anesthesiology from 2001 to 2006. Prior, she worked for Yale University as chief of the section of ambulatory anesthesiology from 1992 to 2001 and as a professor from 1987 to 1992. She gained initial teaching experience as a clinical instructor in anesthesia at the Harvard Medical School from 1976 to 1980, later rising to the rank of assistant clinical professor of anesthesia from 1981 to 1987. Additionally, Dr. McGoldrick maintained involvement with several hospitals throughout her career, including Mount Auburn Hospital and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Massachusetts, Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut and, more recently, Westchester Medical Center in New York as the director of anesthesiology between 2001 and 2013.

Dr. McGoldrick received a Bachelor of Management Studies from the Dartmouth Medical School in 1968 and achieved her Medical Doctorate at Weill Cornell Medicine at Cornell University in 1970.  By 1974, she had completed a pediatrics internship at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, an anesthesiology residency at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and a pediatric anesthesia chief residency at the Harvard Medical School’s Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Later on, Dr. McGoldrick earned a Master of Arts in 1992 and a Certificate of Completion of the Executive Program for Physicians in 1999, both from Yale University. Notably, in 2014, she was named an honorary fellow of the College of Anesthesiologists of Ireland and is a fellow of the American College of Anesthesiology.

Presently, Dr. McGoldrick sits on the boards of directors of the Anesthesia Foundation. Additionally, she holds membership with the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Academy of Anesthesiology, Association of University Anesthesiologists, Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, Society of Neurosurgical Anesthesia and Intensive Care and many other reputable organizations of which she held executive titles. To attest to her legacy, Dr. McGoldrick is also listed in various edition of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
