Colleen McNicholas, DO, Chief Medical Officer at Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and SW Missouri, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in obstetrics and gynecology.
Backed by a Master’s in clinical investigation from Washington University, Dr. McNicholas proceeded to attend the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. There, she earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, which provided her with the platform to pursue a career in medicine. Since 2007, Dr. McNicholas has operated her private OBGYN practice, though she has taken on myriad parallel roles along the way. From 2011 until 2019, she returned to Washington University and explored teaching as an associate professor of gynecology. As she gained experience throughout her career, Dr. McNicholas was awakened to the fact that many women did not have the access or voice to treat their OBGYN needs. She knew she wanted to be an advocate for these women, which brought her to her current position as the chief medical officer at the Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and SW Missouri.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Dr. McNicholas has been active on the Committee on Healthcare for Underserved Women, the Committee on Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Rights, and the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics. She additionally serves as the secretary and treasurer for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Looking toward the future, Dr. McNicholas plans to continue offering the necessary services to her community. She will never stop looking for ways to provide innovative and patient-centered care.
