Edward Fody, Pathologist and Laboratory Director, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pathology.

Growing up, Dr. Fody always gravitated to the topic of science. Later, he decided he wanted to pursue a career in cancer studies. A graduate of Duke University, he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1969. Soon thereafter, he received a Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1971. In 1975, he received an MD from Vanderbilt University. He carried on with a residency in pathology at Vanderbilt University Hospital and then with a fellowship in chemistry at the University of Texas Medical School.

Partially retired since 2013, he continues to work as a part-time pathologist at Holland Hospital. Prior to his resignation, he held the title of Chief of Pathology at the Western Michigan Pathology Associates at the hospital from 2004 to 2013. He served as the Chief Pathologist of the Erlanger Medical Center from 1997 to 2004 and of the Bethesda Hospital from 1987 to 1996. In the past, Dr. Fody excelled as an associate professor at the University of Arkansas, with the VA Hospital in Little Rock, and as an assistant professor at the University of Texas.

In a career filled with several highlights, Dr. Fody is most proud of being a part of the development of new pathology laboratories at three hospitals – the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, Betheseda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Holland Hospital. He was responsible for making personnel changes and oversaw the building of the new laboratories. The laboratories are still serving patients, to date. To remain aware of changes in the field of pathology, Dr. Fody maintains a professional relationship with the American Society for Clinical Pathologists, the American Medical Association, the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, the American Society for Microbiology, the Michigan State Medical Society, and the Ottawa County Medical Society. An exceptional Marquis listee, he has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World. Outside of his primary endeavors, Dr. Fody enjoys photography and boating in his spare time.
