Dr. Kozak was inspired to pursue a career medicine by his exceptional high school biology teacher. He attended St. Bonaventure University and earned a Bachelor of Science in biology before acquiring a Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Health Science Center. From 1989 until 1992, he completed his required residency at the Mid-Hudson Family Practice, where he served as chief resident. For the first nine years of his professional career, Dr. Kozak acted as the president of the medical staff at Cobleskill Regional Hospital. For the following 15 years, he served as the medical director of the Progressive Care Unit. Since 1992, Dr. Kozak has been healing patients as a physician with Bassett Healthcare.
Outside of his medical endeavors, Dr. Kozak has made a commitment to living an active civic lifestyle. For 15 years, he served as a delegate and county representative for the State of New York. He has additionally been the choir director for the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church and a Senior Council Trustee for his local church. Further, from 1982 until 1984, he worked as the medical platoon leader for the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps. He maintains affiliation with the Academy of Family Practice, the Medical Society of the State of New York and the County Medical Society, for whom he was president from 1997 until 2012.
Dr. Kozak attributes his success to staying goal-oriented, as well as being a self-proclaimed “people-person.” He is consistently rewarded by interacting with and helping, his patients. No matter how hectic his office might get, Dr. Kozak always walks in with a smile and is excited to conquer the day. Looking toward the future, Dr. Kozak sees himself retiring in the next five years. Once retired, he hopes to spend more time with his local church and engage in art.
