Devika Kapuria, Gastroenterologist at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in gastroenterology.
Dr. Kapuria notably earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Lady Harding Medical College in India. During her time as a resident in internal medicine at the University of Missouri, she was deeply impacted by her patients who were sick with liver disease. As a result, she decided to explore the field further to see if she could contribute to ongoing research in order to help heal her patients. In the following years, Dr. Kapuria accepted a fellowship at the National Institute of Health. There, she completed a great deal of important research and additionally contributed greatly to the treatments of patients with hepatitis. Since 2018, Dr. Kapuria has successfully served as a gastroenterologist and gastroenterology fellow at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Hospital.
A member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians, Dr. Kapuria has received various professional awards and accolades in recognition of her many accomplishments. She attributes much of her success to having good mentors and patients who were interested in their care. This motivated her to always want to find a cure for her patients’ ailments. In the future, Dr. Kapuria hopes to develop a multidimensional approach to curing alcoholic liver disease, and she would like to open a clinic that will focus on abstinence and reducing alcohol dependence.
