Dr. Greg D. Cohen DOFACOFPDIST, Family Physician at Lucas County Health Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in osteopathic medicine.
Since he was five years old, Dr. Cohen dreamed of becoming a physician in order to make a difference in people’s lives. In 1985, he received a BS in neuroscience from Colgate University and went on to earn a DO in osteopathic medicine from Des Moines University in 1991. Once completing a residency in family practice at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Dr. Cohen commenced his notable career as a family physician with the Lucas County Health Center in 1991. Working in rural Iowa, Dr. Cohen takes care of all patient’s needs from the beginning, while also serving as a mentor to third and fourth-year medical students from the Des Moines University at LCHC Medical Clinic.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Cohen has been a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, as well as a delegate to the American College of Osteopathic Medicine and American Osteopathic Association. In 2019, the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association honored him as Physician of the Year, and he was also named an Iowa Rural Health Champion in 2014. A member of the American Osteopathic Association, Dr. Cohen has also served as a trustee, officer, and president of the Iowa Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, which he calls a distinguishable highlight of his career. Looking ahead, Dr. Cohen hopes to continue his work in order to help preserve and improve the osteopathic profession. He believes if students look at, listen, and do what they are taught during their education, they can contribute to improving the experience for all patients and communities.
