Bi Awosika, MD, FACP, FHM, Associate Professor and Associate Program Director at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements and leadership in education.

With nearly 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Awosika has been an associate professor of clinical medicine and an associate program director of the internal medicine residency program at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center since 2018. Prior to obtaining her current roles, she held a number of other positions with the school, having been an academic hospitalist, attending physician and assistant professor since 2016. She was previously the medical director of the north intermediate care unit at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital from 2015 to 2016, where she had been an academic hospitalist, attending physician and assistant professor from 2012 to 2016. Earlier in her career, Dr. Awosika was a chief medical residency and clinical instructor at Boston University Medical Center from 2011 to 2012 and a research assistant for the DNA patent database project at the Georgetown University Kennedy Institute of Ethics from 2002 to 2003.

Dr. Awosika first pursued an education with Stanford University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in human biology in 2002. She continued her studies with the University of Illinois College of Medicine, earning an MD in 2008. She subsequently completed a residency with Boston University Medical Center from 2008 to 2011. Dr. Awosika has been licensed to practice in the State of Ohio and she has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

A respected voice in her areas of interest, Dr. Awosika has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. She is a member of the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati, the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine and the Society of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Awosika has also been active with the American College of Physicians, the north medical surgical steering committee at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine and the Boston University Medical Center Code Committee.

Throughout her career, Dr. Awosika has been recognized for her contributions. The recipient of the Trinity High School Young Alumna Award, she was given the Richard W. Vilter Award by the University of Cincinnati, who also nominated her of the Excellence in Mentoring Award. MedStar Georgetown University Hospital gave her the Interdisciplinary Collaboration Award, the Chairman’s Award and the Department of Medicine Teaching Award, and has named her SPIRIT Associate of the Month. Dr. Awosika was presented with the Tom Reeves Award the University of Illinois Alumni Association Student Leadership Award and the Division of Hospital Medicine Award. She is further an inductee of the Gold Humanism National Honor Society, and she has received the Abbas Hyderi Award for Leadership and Advocacy from the Chicago Medical School Council and the UIC College of Medicine Student Leadership Award.
