Prior to obtaining these roles, he was a surgical fellow with MD Anderson Hospital from 1979 to 1980 and he was a clinical associate with the National Institutes of Health from 1974 to 1977. Earlier in his career, he was an intern and resident with Cornell Medical Center from 1971 to 1974, returning to these roles from 1977 to 1979, and he was a lieutenant commander with the United States Public Health Service from 1974 to 1976.
Dr. Danforth first pursued an education with Northwestern University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1965. He continued his studies with the University of New Mexico, completing a Master of Science in 1967. He then returned to Northwestern University, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1971. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Danforth has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He has been recognized as a fellow of the American Cancer Society and the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association of Cancer Research, the Endocrine Society, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his contributions. He has received awards and accolades for his achievements. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World.
