Akhil K. Seth, Doctor at NorthShore University HealthSystem, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in plastic surgery.
Dr. Seth always longed for a profession in which he could interact with people. When combined with his scientific interests, a career in the field of medicine was the perfect answer. With this in mind, he earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering and then an MD, both from Johns Hopkins University in 2003 and 2007, respectively. Dr. Seth went on to complete his required residency in general surgery at McGaw Medical Center at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine from 2007 until 2014. He then explored a residency in plastic surgery at Harvard Medical School, which he followed with a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 2017 until 2018.
After thoroughly exploring varying medical fields, Dr. Seth made the decision to primarily pursue plastic surgery. This was a result of his aptitude for working with his hands, as well as the rewarding feeling that came with improving the quality of his patients’ lives. In 2018, he was hired as the attending physician in plastic surgery at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Illinois. He remains there today, continuing to excel in his role and bringing happiness to every patient with whom he works.
Dr. Seth’s accomplishments have resulted in numerous awards. These awards include, but are not limited to, the Best Paper Award from the American Society of Breast Surgery, the Service Award from NorthShore University HealthSystem, and the Wound Biotechnology Foundation Award from the Wound Healing Society. Additionally, he brings his insights to various professional organizations, such as the Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Plastic Surgery Research Council, among others.
Outside of his primary role, Dr. Seth has been a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He enjoys enlightening young minds, which is why he additionally volunteers as a mentor to high school students and at various community outreach programs. He looks forward to the future, as he is excited to take on greater leadership roles within his system.
