Harold A. Mitty, MD, Radiologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of radiology.
Dr. Mitty’s interest in biology in high school is what encouraged him to pursue medicine. He initially completed coursework at Queens College prior to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine from the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in 1958. He subsequently completed an internship at Mount Sinai Hospital and a residency in internal medicine at Maimonides Hospital. Following these appointments, Dr. Mitty found much success as the resident radiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital from 1962 until his retirement in 2013.
A respected individual in his field, Dr. Mitty accomplished a great deal during his time at Mount Sinai. He looks back on those years fondly, as he is responsible for establishing a training program to train up-and-coming radiologists, which is just one of his many achievements. When he entered the field of radiology, it was relatively underrepresented. At the time of his retirement, radiology had become quite popular, as did the program at Mount Sinai. He considers his exemplary contributions to the field to be the highlights of his career. He is a past president of the New York Roentgen ociety and is the recipient of a Lifetime AChievement Award from the Society of Uroradiology. In 2019, Dr. Mitty was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his wealth of professional success.
