With 15 years of professional experience, Dr. Segurola has been the chief of cardiac surgery at Jackson Health Systems since 2019. Prior to obtaining his current role, he was a clinical associate professor at Nova Southeastern University from 2014 to 2019, where he was also the division chief of cardiothoracic surgery from 2017 to 2019. He was also chief and chair of cardiac surgery with Palmetto General Hospital from 2006 to 2019, as well as a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon with the South Florida Heart and Lung Institute from 2004 to 2019.
Dr. Segurola first pursued an education with the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he earned a degree in CVTS surgery and cardiac surgery. He is certified in critical care by the American Board of Surgery, and he is a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Furthermore, he is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society and the Society of Thoracic Surgery.
Throughout his career, Dr. Segurola has been recognized for his contributions. The recipient of the Cor Vitae Award from the American Heart Association, he was recognized for Excellence in Cardiac Surgery by Health Grades and he received the Salute from the City of Miami. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Mayors Award by the City of Hialeah and the Recognition Award by the City of Doral.
