George Dean, MD, Doctor at Family Physicians of America, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare.
With 60 years of professional experience, Dr. Dean has held a private practice with the Family Physicians of America since 1959. In addition to his primary role, he has served as a clinical professor and endowed chair of family medicine with the University of Michigan, and he was an associate professor of family medicine at Wayne State University. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and he was Founder and Member of Chess Collectors International.
Dr. Dean was inspired to pursue medical education from an early age, having experienced an unprecedented surgery at only seven years old. He was traumatized, yet simultaneously inspired to be a humanistic physician and provide gentle and informed care while advocating for all of his patients. He first pursued an education with Wayne State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1953. He continued his studies with the school, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1956. He then joined the United States Navy, serving from 1956 to 1958, and he served with the United States Naval Reserve from 1959 to 1969. As a testament to his success, he is featured in several editions of Who’s Who in America and the 26th edition of Who’s Who in the Midwest.
