With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Porch-Burke has been a substance abuse and mental health counselor with the Clare/Matrix Foundation since 2018. Prior to obtaining her current role, she held a number of positions with the California School of Professional Psychology, including chancellor from 1989 to 1998, coordinator of multicultural and proficiency in clinical psychology from 1990 to 1991, coordinator of ethnic minority mental health proficiency from 1987 to 1990, associate professor from 1987 to 1990 and assistant professor from 1985 to 1987. From 1983 to 1984, Dr. Porch-Burke was a school psychologist at the Pierce School and, from 1981 to 1982, she was an associate of AVENUES of South Bend, Inc. Earlier in her career, she was a Spanish teacher at Pius X High School from 1976 to 1977.
Dr. Porch-Burke first pursued an education with the University of Southern California, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, magna cum laude, in 1976. She then joined the University of Notre Dame, completing a Master of Arts in counseling psychology in 1981. She continued her studies with the school, earning a PhD in psychology in 1983. Dr. Porch-Burke subsequently held a clinical psychology internship with the Boston University School of Medicine from 1983 to 1984.
