William Biggs, Endocrinologist, CMIO and Managing Partner at Amarillo Medical Specialists, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in endocrinology.
Dr. Biggs became involved in his profession because he liked the challenge behind it and the integration of science and working with people. The medical field piqued his interest early on and he was attracted to that because he had family members with diabetes. Another formative part of his career was his residency in internal medicine at the NE Deaconess Hospital and his fellowship in endocrinology at the Joslin Diabetes Center. The Joslin Diabetes Center is considered the preeminent place for diabetes care and it furthered his interest in this area of medical care. Since 1986, Dr. Biggs has leveraged his skills and expertise in his roles with the private practice Amarillo Medical Specialists. From 1999 to 2913, he provided his services as a manager to CBLF partners.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry at the University of California in 1978, Dr. Biggs continued his education at the University of Texas Southwestern to receive an MD in 1982. He interned in medicine at the University of California San Diego before serving in his residency and fellowships. In addition to his work at Amarillo Medical Specialists, Dr. Biggs has served as the president of medical staff, on the board of governors, and as the chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine for Northwest Texas Healthcare Systems. He has served as an assistant clinical professor for the Texas Tech University School of Medicine since 1986. Dr. Biggs’ contributions as a medical professional have been recognized with being named as a Texas Monthly Super Doctor since 2005.
