Rodney White, Vascular Surgeon, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
Dr. White became involved in his profession because as a curious child. He came into contact with several surgeons who inspired him to pursue a career in the medical field. Once he got into medical school, he got involved with some pre-surgery with his uncle, who worked at Pennsylvania State University in the medical engineering department. Together, they started a project that led to receiving the First Annual U.S. Congressional Golden Goose Award for Federally-Funded Research Leading to Significant Patient Care and Economic Benefit. The spin-off from that work enabled them to make artificial implants which have been used to help many patients. This work also gave way to his interest in vascular surgery, which is where he has positioned his career for the past four decades. He served as the chief of vascular surgery and instructor of surgery at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Prior to that, he was a vascular fellow at the institution, a consultant and director of Interpore International as well as a medical director in vascular surgery at the MemorialCare Heart and Vascular Institute Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
In 1970, Dr. White earned a Bachelor of Science at Syracuse University and continued his academic pursuits at New York University, receiving an MD in 1974. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with a variety of organizations that have aided in his professional development. These include the Medical Research Association of California, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Biomaterials, the Society for Vascular Surgery, the International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Heart Association, Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa.
