Robert Resnik, Professor Emeritus of OB/GYN and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical education and academic administration.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Resnik attended Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1960. He continued his academic pursuits at Case Western Reserve University, earning an MD in 1965 and starting as an intern in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. From 1966 to 1970, Dr. Resnik sharpened his medical skills and expertise while serving his community with a residency in obstetrics-gynecology (OB/GYN) at the Yale University School of Medicine. He spent the next two years as a major in the US Army, with an honorable discharge in 1972, and in 1974, he accepted a position as a professor in the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego) School of Medicine. In 1978, he rose to the rank of associate professor, and in 1982, he became a professor of reproductive medicine. That same year, Dr. Resnik began serving as the chairman of the department, and from 1988 to 1990, he served as the dean of clinical affairs at UC San Diego.
In 1995, Dr. Resnik left his position as department chair and took a new role as dean of admissions, which he held until 2003. Currently, he holds the designation of professor emeritus of OB/GYN and reproductive sciences. Holding certifications in General Board and Maternal-Fetal Medicine from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, he has been a contributor and co-author to a variety of professional journals and published works. Dr. Resnik co-authored multiple editions of Maternal-Fetal Medicine: Principles and Practice and contributed to both The Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine and The Journal of Reproductive Medicine. In addition, over the course of his career, he has leveraged his experience and knowledge as a consultant for and as a member of a variety of organizations and committees. As a testament to his success, experience and stature, Dr. Resnik has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in the West, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who in America.
