Dr. Staats is a licensed psychologist and has worked as the executive director of Comprehensive Assessments since 1991. From 1979 to 1991, he served as the executive director of the Doctors Psychological Center, and before that position, he was the director and chief psychologist of Caddo Parish Diagnostic Center. Dr. Staats studied at Emory University, earning a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1970, and transitioned to the University of Alabama. At this institution, he earned a Master of Arts in 1972 and a PhD in 1974, and later in his career, he returned to his education as a postgraduate at the University of Texas in 1992. In addition to his multiple degrees, he is a diplomate of the American Board of Professional Disability Consultants.
In conjunction with his professional pursuits, Dr. Staats has written several published works. He authored the Manual for the Stress Vector Analysis Test Series in 1983, “The Doctors Guide to Instant Stress Relief” in 1987 and the Stress Management and Relaxation Training System Handbook. Furthermore, he has contributed multiple articles to professional journals and popular magazines. In 1991, Dr. Staats was recognized with an award from the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians, and he is a fellow of the American Institute of Stress. He cites his father, Dr. Percy A. Staats, and Dr. Philip Osborne, a chronic pain specialist, as inspirations and mentors in his career. As a testament to his experience and success, Dr. Staats has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who in America.
