Ravi Kant, Endocrinologist and Geriatrician at AnMed Endocrinology, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in endocrinology and geriatric medicine.

When Dr. Kant was in middle school, his father became ill with a tumor. The surgery his father had to undergo was very difficult, and it wasn’t certain that he would make it through. Dr. Kant saw firsthand how his father was treated, and how a single physician can help an entire family. Attracted by the prospect of being able to similarly help many people through his work, he decided to pursue a career as a medical professional, and completed medical school in India, receiving his medical degree from the Delhi University College of Medical Sciences. He has published multiple research papers in professional journals, including “Proteinuria in the elderly: evaluation and management,” and “Invasive phaeochromocytoma presenting as a right atrial mass.”

Dr. Kant started as an associate professor at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and later became a resident at Johns Hopkins University Sinai Hospital in 2008. He accepted a fellowship in geriatric medicine from the University of Maryland from 2011 to 2012, and took an additional fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism from the University of Maryland, from 2012 to 2014. Since 2014, Dr. Kant has worked as an affiliate associate professor at the Medical University of South Carolina, and as an endocrinologist and geriatrician for AnMed Endocrinology.

In 2019, Dr. Kant was named Preceptor of the Year, and over the course of his career as a clinician, he received both a Best Resident Award and a Best Fellow Award. He has been certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and has held a South Carolina State Medical License since 2014. He attributes his success to having great mentors and a supportive family. Currently, Dr. Kant enjoys his work as a clinician and researcher and plans to continue working to improve the lives of patients in the coming years.
