Mary Ann Chudy Levy, MD, Psychiatrist and Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychiatry.
For more than four decades, Dr. Levy has invested her time and efforts in helping other heal through psychological therapies. Driven by the healing that she experienced herself in her lifetime following childhood trauma, she relates to her patients in a way that enables them to trust her implicitly and understand that deeply rooted trauma needs long-term therapy. In her career, Dr. Levy has worked with many patients firsthand, but she has also found success in academia as a clinical professor. She taught psychiatry at the Health Sciences Center at the University of Colorado for 43 years before retiring in 2015. She has also found success as an active member and former president of the local chapter of the Denver Psychoanalytic Society. In recognition of her professional excellence in her career, she was the recipient of a Brandt Steele Award, an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement award, and a certificate of achievement from the department of psychiatry University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Levy’s longevity in her field is supported by her education. She holds a MD, which she earned from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, in 1964. She is certified in psychiatry by the University of Cincinnati and certified in psychoanalysis by the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis. Committed to her continued professional development, she affiliates with the American Psychiatric Society. Motivated to help people because she understands how trauma has a long-term effect on an individual’s quality of life, Dr. Levy is recognized in her field as a presenter and a contributor of articles to scientific journals. In the years to come, she plans to teach as a visiting professor occasionally at the University of Colorado. Further, she intends to travel to Japan to present on chronic trauma, which she has been honored to do several times in the past.
