Robert Ralph Hylton, Anesthesiologist at North Rockies Surgicenter, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in anesthesiology.

Dr. Hylton was inspired by his parents and family doctor to enter into his field. It was really a family expectation for him to become a doctor. His doctor encouraged him to go to medical school. Dr. Hylton chose his specialty because it involved technology, pharmacology, and medicine. Those aspects were what he was interested in, so he figured it was a perfect fit. Prior to entering his profession, Dr. Hylton earned a BS in pre-medicine from the University of Wyoming in 1955. From there, he went to John Hopkins University and earned his MD in 1959. Upon receiving his degree, he interned at Colorado General Hospital from 1959 to 1960. In 1960, he joined the U.S. Air Force, becoming a commissioned second lieutenant. He remained in the military moving up in the rankings to colonel, until he retired.

While in the service, Dr. Hylton did his residency in anesthesiology at the University of California San Francisco from 1962 to 1965. From there, he became the chief of anesthesia and operating room services at the 7520th U.S. Air Force Hospital from 1965 to 1968. In 1969, Dr. Hylton moved to Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center with the U.S. Air Force taking on the same position, where he stayed for a year. He earned the title of anesthesiologist in 1970 at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Center, where he stayed until 1992 and at Deaconess Medical Center, where he was until 1999. He was also an anesthesiologist at the North Rockies Surgicenter from 1978 to 1999. As a testament to his success, Dr. Hylton was inducted as a fellow at the American College of Anesthesiologists and as a member of the American Medical Association, the Montana Medical Association and the Yellowstone Valley Medical Association, among numerous others. He has also been included in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America.
