Dr. Young became involved in his profession because he felt a life in medicine was a calling. He wanted to become a doctor for as long as he could remember. He went into allergy and immunology because his family has a history of allergies and wanted to be able to help them feel better. Dr. Young received an AB from Colgate University in 1959 and an MD from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1963. Before stepping into the medical field in pursuit of his career, Dr. Young served as a captain for the Medical Corps at Amarillo Air Force Base from 1966 to 1968. After his time served, he started working for a private practice specializing in allergies for adults and children from 1970 to 2013. While working in that position he joined the Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1973 until 1989 as the chief of pediatric allergy and chief of allergy. He was also working for the New York Pediatric Society from 1983 to 1989 as a program chairman, president and member of the executive council. Also, in 1983 he began working as a clinical associate professor of pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and in 2012 he took on the role of clinical assistant professor of medicine and clinical immunology, both positions he still holds today.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Young has been named one of the Top Doctors by New York Magazine and received the Top Doctor Award from the Castle Connolly Guide for 10 years. He was also awarded for 15 years of teaching at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He has been inducted as a member of various esteemed organizations including, the New York Allergy Society, the New York Pediatric Society and the American College of Physicians, to name a few. He has also been inducted as a fellow emeritus of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians among others. Furthermore, Dr. Young has been included in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America.
