At a young age, Dr. Forrester became fascinated at the idea of how the brain works. Additionally, he wanted to understand the correlation between brain activity and human behavior. Encouraged by his parents who were both in the medical profession, Dr. Forrester graduated from Groton School in Massachusetts with magna cum laude honors in 1971. Soon thereafter, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with magna cum laude honors from Yale University in 1975, further securing a Doctor of Medicine from John Hopkins University in 1979. Upon the completion of psychiatric and medical residencies with Mount Auburn Hospital and John Hopkins University in 1985, Dr. Forrester went on to teach at the University of Maryland Baltimore and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, between 1986 and 2000. Today, he contributes as a medical director for the Maryland Addiction Recovery Center, while working at his own private practice in Timonium, Maryland.
With his private practice, Dr. Forrester specializes in a myriad of services. Some of which include referrals, assessments for patients for prescribing medication, medication management, and patient evaluations. As the medical director of the Maryland Addiction Recovery Center, he is responsible for administrative duties, patient care, prescriptions, and staff supervision. In addition to his primary endeavors, Dr. Forrester also served as a staff psychiatrist for several institutions including the Sheppard-Enoch Pratt Hospital, Robert Sylvia Group Inc., McCann Health, and Chase Brexton Health Services, Inc., among others. He also contributed as a psychiatric consultant for the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and Towson University Counseling Center, intermittently, between 1983 and 2016. Civically, he has dedicated his time as a member of the Board of Trustees with the Groton School and the AIDS Committee of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty State of Maryland between 1983 and 1985.
To remain abreast of developments in the field, Dr. Forrester maintains professional ties with the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, the Maryland Psychiatric Society, and the Southern Psychiatric Association. As a testament to his success, Dr. Forrester has been honored as a National Achievement Scholar between 1971 and 1975. Furthermore, he has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in American Education.
