Graduating high school at the age of 15, Dr. Hanna decided to enter the field of nursing and earned an AS in nursing from Belmont College in 1980. She continued her studies, earning a BS in nursing from Union University in 1983, an MS in nursing from the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 1993, and ultimately a PhD in healthcare administration from Kennedy Western University in 2004. She is interested in early warning systems and resuscitation processes and outcomes, and has dedicated her career to making a positive impact within the field of health care. Prior to her current role of clinical professional development educator at HCA TriStar Division, Dr. Hanna has been a staff development manager for the Southern Hills Medical Center from 2016 to 2018, director of education at the Centennial Medical Center from 1999 to 2016, manager, CQI/EDU, at the American Transitional Hospital in Nashville from 1995 to 1999, and a critical care nurse at Vanderbilt University and Baptist Hospital.
Specializing in quality management and knowledge, Dr. Hanna has created a legacy provided exceptional healthcare to others and improving others’ lives. She has shared her knowledge with others via her written works “Reducing CP Arrests and Unplanned Transfers to the ICU,” and Education and Competency Collaborative Program: Partnering to Improve Patient Outcomes,” among others, and by presenting findings at the Annual Conference Society for College and University Planning on multiple occasions. In recognition of her dedication to the field of healthcare, Dr. Hanna has been lauded with the H.E.A.R.T Recognition Award from the TriStar Southern Hill Medical Center in 2016, among other awards, and has been a grantee of the TriStar Centennial Medical Center Primary and of the Belmont University School of Nursing. Additionally, she has been awarded the prestigious Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and featured in the third edition of Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals, the fourth edition of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, the 25th editions of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who of American Women, and multiple editions of Who’s Who in American Nursing and Who’s Who in America.
