David Drutz, President of Pacific Biopharma Associates, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in internal medicine.
Dr. Drutz was drawn to science at an early age and pursued this interest throughout his endeavors. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisville in 1958 and a subsequent MD in 1962. Following training at Vanderbilt in internal medicine and infectious diseases and service as a U.S. Navy medical officer, he held progressively senior faculty positions at UCSF, UT Health Science Center, San Antonio, Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania. As a tenured professor in San Antonio, he established an NSF-funded Industry-University Cooperative Research Center, launching a second career in pharma, biotech and venture capital.
In his subsequent career, Dr. Drutz has held various executive level positions at SmithKline & French Laboratories, Daiichi Pharmaceutical Corp,, Sennes Drug Innovations, Inc., Inspire Pharma Inc., Pacific Rim Ventures Co, Ltd., and DARA Biosciences. Dr. Drutz is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America and a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, American Society for Microbiology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
