Maja Zaric, MD, Interventional Cardiologist within the Department of Interventional Cardiology at Northwell Health’s Lenox Hill Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in interventional cardiology.

Dr. Zaric joined the prestigious Lenox Hill Hospital Interventional Cardiology group in December of 2007, bringing her highly skilled background to help in developing a substantive venous program to encompass a full array of diagnostic and treatment modalities for all stages of superficial and deep venous insufficiency. Additionally, Dr. Zaric is passionate about developing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary “hybrid” vascular service maintaining close clinical ties with other experts in interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, and interventional radiology. Dr. Zaric hopes to give back to her community and to her devoted patients by offering them valuable, unique and effective vascular treatment options. As a result of her cutting edge vision, skill and hard work, her practice has grown dramatically over a relatively short period of time.

Dr. Zaric was always interested in cardiology and made the decision to pursue the field when she was in middle school. She was intrigued by a textbook that painted the structure of anatomy and body parts, but mostly was fixated on the whole idea of having an organ that works from the moment you are born to the moment you die. There was no doubt that she would pursue cardiology once she was in medical school. With both her parents being physicians, she was encouraged to go into health care as well and earned an MD while in Serbia. In addition to providing patients with the utmost quality of care, Dr. Zaric prepares future generations of medical professionals as an assistant professor at the Zucker Medical School at Hofstra University.

In her career, Dr. Zaric has received a number of accolades for her work. She received an Excellence in Fellowship in Internal Medicine from Lenox Hills Hospital and received the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” Award in 2015. The AHA also recognized her with the Young Professional Honoree for Excellence in Cardiovascular Medicine. In 2010, she earned the Peer to Peer Excellence in Medicine Recognition Award from the Bronx County Medical Society. Dr. Zaric believes in honest work and facilitates an environment that bolsters trust and confidence. She believes patient education is crucial to maintaining an individual’s health and aides in patients returning for follow-through and checkup appointments. Dr. Zaric considers working part-time in a low-income and underserved area of the Bronx as one of the most grounding experiences of her career. In this role, she remained connected with her patients and knew how important treatment was to those who may need it most.
