Lee Alice Pletts Goscin, MD, PhD, endocrinologist and educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in endocrinology.

A fourth-generation physician with an expertise in hormonal issues, Dr. Goscin is highly respected within her field for treating conditions such as adrenal disorders, diabetes, thyroid disease, bone disease, disorders of the pituitary gland, hypertension, lipid disorders and more. Today, she excels in private practice in Largo, Florida, serving patients from all around the Tampa region. She has been in this capacity since 2016 upon moving back to Florida. For many years she was an endocrinologist in McAlester, Oklahoma, as well as in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Previously, she held prominent roles in Florida as a physician with the Palm Beach Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists, as well as clinical associate professor and clinical instructor at the University of Miami for nearly a decade.

Dr. Goscin has shared her knowledge and insights through multiple publications within the medical community, especially on the topic on the undertreatment of subclinical hypothyroidism leading to increases in lower baby IQ’s and miscarriages. She has presented on this topic for 14 years at the annual meeting held each year by the American Thyroid Association. In recognition of her professional excellence in her career, she is an elected fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. Today, she continues to impact her industry through her memberships with the Florida Medical Association, the Endocrine Society, the American College of Endocrinology, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American Diabetes Association, and Alpha Phi, where she previously served as president.

Driven by her desire to help others through exceptional patient care, Dr. Goscin prepared for her career by pursuing her education and completing her academic goals. She earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Florida in 1968, a PhD in biochemistry from Duke University in 1973 and an MD from the University of Miami in 1986. From there, she joined Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida, where she completed an internship before becoming a resident of internal medicine at the Natick Medical Center in Framingham, Massachusetts. Dr. Goscin then took a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she demonstrated her early abilities as an emerging leader in the field. As she looks to the future, Dr. Goscin intends to continue providing top of the line care while seeking new opportunities within her professional community to make an impact.
