David Samuel Pearlman, MD, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in allergy immunology practice, clinical research, and teaching.
Dr. Pearlman’s national recognition has included the Distinguished Clinician Award from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, a Distinguished Service Award in Recognition of Outstanding Contributions to the Joint Task Force of Practice Parameters from the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and the Bret Ratner Award for Contributions to the Field of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology from the American Academy of Pediatrics. He also has been awarded a named lectureship by the AAAI Foundation, and a Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who.
Dr. Pearlman has contributed more than 160 articles to medical journals and textbook chapters and has co-edited multiple editions of the textbook “Allergy, Asthma and Immunology from Infancy to Adulthood.”
He earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1958 from the State University of New York at Syracuse after attending Cornell University. He received postgraduate clinical training at the University Hospitals of Cleveland in pediatrics and then a chief residency in pediatrics at the University of Colorado School and University Hospital. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in immunology at the University of Colorado Medical Center and an NIH Fellowship in pharmacology at the National Institute of Medical Research in London, England, and a Research Development Award by the NIH.
Dr. Pearlman held prominent teaching as Director of Allergy and Immunology in the Department of Pediatrics University of Colorado Medical Center, and subsequently as Co-Director of the joint Pediatric/Immunology Allergy Fellowship program of the University of Colorado/National Jewish Hospital that he helped create.
He retired from his practice of 47 years in 2019 as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, Emeritus at the University of Colorado Medical/Children’s Hospital in 2019.
