David Kettleson, Retired Orthopaedic Surgeon, and Timber Manager at Kettleson’s Eagleview Farms, L.P., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in orthopaedic surgery.
A man of varied interests, Dr. Kettleson has dedicated his career to caring for all living beings. His mother, Dorothy Kettleson, was a nurse, and her care for others inspired a young Dr. Kettleson to follow this path of nurturing. He matriculated at the University of Minnesota where he originally studied forestry and wildlife management before switching his focus to pre-med. Though the program was difficult, Dr. Kettleson excelled and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1960 and later earned a Bachelor of Science as well as a Doctor of Medicine in 1964. He then interned at St, Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN, from 1964 to 1965 before becoming a resident in orthopaedic surgery at his alma mater’s hospital from 1965 to 1969, during which time he conducted the first study on the effect of Milwaukee braces for treatment of spinal curves.
Dr. Kettleson then served as a major in the US Air Force from 1969 to 1971 before assuming employment with Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc., in Omaha, NE. He served the organization as the vice president, secretary and treasurer from 1971 to 1992 before working as the president of Nebraska Spine Surgeons from 1992 until his retirement in 1994. Dr. Kettleson no longer practices as an orthopaedic surgeon and instead spends his time caring for animals and nature. He owned Eagleview Farms in Crosslake, MN, from 1994 to 2003 before establishing Kettleson’s Eagleview Farms, L.P., in 2003. The company is comprised of over 700 acres of land and he currently serves as treasurer and owner. In addition to his love of the land, Dr. Kettleson loves animals and has raised Springer Spaniels dogs for over 40 years.
Due to his dedication to forestry, Dr. Kettleson has been named the Minnesota Outstanding Tree Farmer of Year by the American Forest Foundation in 2001. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Mid-Central States Orthopaedic Society, the Nebraska Orthopaedic Society, the Scoliosis Research Society and the American Tree Farm System. Furthermore, Dr. Kettleson served as chairman of the department of orthopedics at the Immanuel Medical Center of Omaha from 1978 to 1982. As a testament to his success, Dr. Kettleson has been lauded with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement award and has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.
