Tahira Homayun Nadiri, MD, retired physician, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in obstetrics and gynecology.
Highly regarded for providing excellent medical care to women, Dr. Homayun Nadiri celebrates a career that spanned more than four decades before retiring in 2016. She entered her profession while still living in her home country of Afghanistan. At the time, there was a need for women obstetrician gynecologists as many women in Afghanistan did not want to see a male physician for this type of care. In short, she wanted to do whatever she could to help serve women better. Dr. Homayun Nadiri was also inspired by her father, who was a physician too.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Homayun Nadiri met with success because of her natural inclination to be hardworking, responsible and reliable. In addition, she was able to build trust with her clients by keeping her practice very small and personalized. Today, she is highly regarded as an expert in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as in the treatment of cervical cancer. When asked of her accomplishments, Dr. Homayun Nadiri credits the foundation that her education provided her with. She is a graduate of Kabul Medical School, where she achieved her doctoral degree in 1962.
In her retirement, Dr. Homayun Nadiri continues her medical work by partnering with a small medical clinic in Afghanistan. Moshwani Payan Clinics a nonprofit organization and outpatient clinic that provides small services including vaccinations and dental work. Dr. Homayun Nadiri is also involved with local schools and libraries. Looking ahead, she intends to continue in her civic work in Afghanistan to help provide civilians with necessities and essentials beyond just medical care.
