Rashid Khan, Gastroenterologist and Transplant Hepatologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
Growing up, Dr. Khan realized that many of the members of his family suffered from liver ailments. This prompted him to pursue the medical field as a means to be able to help not only his sick family members but the public at large. Dr. Khan attended Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan and continued his medical training with a residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas at Houston. Following this, he worked in fellowships with the Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical Branch. His clinical interests include advanced liver disease, liver biopsy, anal rectal/colon, colon cancer, Crohn’s Disease, endoscopy, gastrointestinal diseases, liver transplant, nutrition and obesity.
From 2006 to 2009, Dr. Khan worked as a staff assistant professor at the Baylor College of Medicine. He then brought his skills and expertise to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, teaching at the institution for two years. He currently works as a gastroenterologist at Houston Methodist Hospital. In his career, Dr. Khan feels most accomplished that he is able to help patients and make a difference in someone and their loved one’s lives. He finds it incredibly rewarding work to be a transplant physician and help a patient on the brink of death recover after receiving a transplant. He maintains professional affiliation with the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
